Best Grad Gifts (coming from a grad)

I’m officially a high school grad and I’m off to college next year (pause for excitement)!!! This is a list compiled of things that I would want for a grad gift (so trust me when I say these are GREAT). You want to get something practical but still cute and fun! An easy way to make a gift more personal is specializing it to the school they’ll be attending or getting their name/ initials embroidered on. Now, for the list…

Hamper/ Laundry Bag

I just got this gift last night and it is amazing. It has my school colors, my name, and the university I’ll be attending on it. What more could you ask for?!

Jewelry Box

You can get a compact travel jewelry case for when they’re on-the-go or one to keep in their dorm room.

Robe

This is vital for communal bathrooms and the walks back to the dorm room.

Picture Collages

I love how sentimental and personal this gift is. It is great for close friends and family!

Pillows

The one disclaimer of the embroidered pillows is that they are super expensive, but cute nonetheless 🙂

Water Bottle/ Tumbler Cup

I know my college encourages reusable water bottles and sooo many college students like their coffee in the morning so both of these things are a perfect grad gift.

Clutches and Pouches

From pencil pouches to cute clutches for makeup these are ALWAYS needed.

Instant Camera

Polaroids are such a fun way of collecting memories in college!

Gift Cards

I know what your thinking, is this impersonal? The answer is not at all! If you know a restaurant/ fast food place they love that will also be on their campus, buy them a gift card for it.

Portable Charger

So that they can charge their phone anytime, anywhere!

The Revival of Completely Claire

I’m back!

And all it took was a world pandemic.

In quarantine, I’ve been getting very bored. I’ve watched more movies than ever before, tested my dancing skills on tiktok, and went down the youtube rabbit hole more than a few times. Important things have happened too. I have finished high school and I’m off to college in the fall! I’m sad that my last few months of senior year didn’t go the way I expected but my friends and I have thought of fun ways to make our own senior year traditions later in the summer (after quarantine of course). When I got an email about ‘Completely Claire’ my face lit up. What better way to spend all this time then continuing my blog. With that being said, welcome back to Completely Claire.

My Heros at the Winter Olympics

(quick side note: I know I’m a million years behind but this has been saved in my drafts and I’ve just gotten around to finishing it)

Let’s talk about the Winter Olympics… “what about it” you may ask… TEENS !! First, as you can probably guess. CHLOE KIM. Like HOW AWESOME IS SHE?! Honestly, she makes me feel so lame. GOLD MEDAL OLYMPIAN at 17?! I know I know, I’m using an excessive amount of capitals but she deserves it! You think that she’s done and her last lap is a victory lap because it was already determined she had won the gold medal but NO! She goes on the pipe and gets a 98.25! My reaction to how awesome she is…

Her tweets definitely deserve some mention too. Because, well, just look for yourself.

And when you thought she couldn’t get any better…

The second person I wanna talk about is Red Gerard. I have never seen someone so chill at the Olympics and still do so well. I know if I was at the Olympics I would be freaking out the night before! Definitely not watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine the night before my event, miss my alarm, clock, lose my coat, then win gold. Red, if you ever read this, teach me your ways!!!!!

And his Jimmy Kimmel interview had me laughing SO HARD!

Moral of this post, Chloe and Red never change you guys are amazing and I live for it! Thanks for reading! Till next post 🙂

How to STOP Travel Breakouts!

When I sit on flights thousands of feet in the air I can almost feel my face breaking out. It feels like bad skin while traveling is inevitable. It sucks because who wants a big pimple while trying to tan on the beach or riding a bike in Amsterdam? Oh yeah, that’s right, NO ONE!!!! I’m no skincare expert but these are the tips and tricks that I recommend trying to fight travel breakouts.

For pre-flight, I would recommend hydration.  Trust me, I feel you, people are constantly telling me lots of water is key to good skin. It feels like you hear it every day. But, it becomes even more important when traveling. For both your skin and health. I always try to bring an empty water bottle and fill it up after I get past TSA. Last time in the airport, for example, I stopped at Starbucks before boarding along with my breakfast sandwich. I also asked them to fill my water bottle. Obviously, you can also find a water fountain, but if you’re already in line ordering, it never hurts to ask to fill your bottle. Another important key factor to good travel skin is moisturizer!!! Moisturizer is your best friend. However, don’t overdo it and clog up your pores just because you are flying that day. At the same time, don’t forget just because sometimes you don’t follow your everyday routine when traveling. Or if you have a really early flight.

Makeup is also something you may wanna change up a little bit for a traveling day. Try not to wear anything too heavy. Swap out your normal foundation for a tinted moisturizer or if you wanna go even lighter, maybe just use concealer where you feel it is needed. And if you feel like you don’t need any face makeup traveling, even better!

This on-flight trick is a little funkier. I admit I have never done this, but I recently was stalking Shay Mitchell (seriously a queen) and saw she did this trick (and it wasn’t only her I see do this, many celebs follow this trick as well). During the flight, she wears a face mask. From what I’ve seen, she does a sheet mask for about 15 minutes and rubs in the product that stayed on her face after she was done. Next time I’m flying (which is very soon) I will definitely try this and let you know!

Last but not least, after the flight. If I had to give you one tip about skincare right after the flight is to detox your face!!!! You really just wanna feel fresh and your face will thank you later if you use a really good deep cleansing face wash after traveling. After traveling, it very common to just wanna crash right on your bed or go right out and adventure. But guys, give it a good wash.

Hope this helps you next time your traveling!

4 Feminist Tee Outfits

Happy Friday-eve readers! This entire week has completely wiped me of all my energy and a nice relaxing weekend is ALL I wish for right now. But, as it is not the weekend yet, I have priorities I must attend to (like studying for my test tomorrow UGH) so writing this blog post was a good little study break for me. I have been soooo inspired by the powerful movement have shown. I loved the golden globes, I loved the women’s marches, I love everything that women are standing up for right now, so creating a post about female empowerment seemed like the perfect thing to do! Enjoy xoxoxo 🙂
P.S. for some reason they are showing up very blurry in this post and I have no idea how to fix it so for a clearer version of the outfits I would check out the link on the bottom to see them on polyvore… okay now I’m done with this post for real… byeeeee.

Youtubers You Have to Watch!!

As much as I love to deny it, youtube easily can suck me in and I will be binge-watching videos for HOURS. For this post, I thought I’d use that to my advantage. These are a few of my favorite YouTubers (some are celebs that post videos). I am always coming across new ones I love and constantly add them to this list. I added a video to each youtuber I mentioned and guys if you enjoy, I highly recommend subscribing to their channel they are all honestly amazing. Comment your favorite YouTubers or youtube you think I’d love and I will make sure to check them out!!!

Things I’m Leaving in 2017

As we celebrate a new year, we also like to look back on the one we had before. We reminiscence upon the good and the bad. Although, sometimes   I like to think it, we can’t just all magically drop our bad habits. However, you can always improve. These are the things I’m going to (try) to  leave in 2018. My list will be short and sweet but still, as you read these I hope you can add to your list of things you’d like to leave in 2018.

  1. Overthinking

I have done this enough times in my life to last me for many years to come. I do not need it in my 2018 self.

     2. Procrastination

This one will no doubt be hard for me. But Netflix, you can wait!

    3. Fearing change

Yes, I’m not denying that sometimes it is scary but I will try my best to embrace it.

    4. Making excuses

Get that workout in. Turn in that paper. Study for that test.

    5. Caring what others think

Don’t let other opinions control your choices.

All the Essentials to Have the BEST Holiday Sleepover

Hello everybody! Today, I’d thought it would be fun to write products and activities you can do to spunk up your holiday sleepover. So… invite you best friends over, light a fire (in your fireplace haha), and get these things to have the absolute best holiday sleepover.

I think face masks are always a fun activity. And it has it’s skincare perks too! You have so many options, you can do a full face mask or just an eye one. If you are really looking to have fun with it you can always do face masks with designs or fun colors. Certainly, don’t forget about the fun selfies you can all take once they’re on.

You can create a cute hot chocolate bar with different types of cocoa powder and toppings. If you wanna get really extravagant, you can get a mug with different initials on it for each of your friends!

MAKING GINGERBREAD HOUSES! If you are anything like me, you really don’t like eating them… I just think they don’t taste that good. With that said, I love making them! There is so much you can do with the design. No amazing christmas sleepover is complete without this activity.

To be honest, mine never turn out nearly this good… but it doesn’t stop me from channeling my inner-gingerbread-decorating-chef-master-artist and trying my best (even if it does end up falling mid-decorating).

When my friends and I have our holiday sleepover, we always wear holiday themed pajamas. It’s always a fun, easy things we like to put us in the spirit. You can all get the same pair, or switch it up and each get different ones. If you are going to lounge around in pajamas, might as well do it in something but comfy and spirited.

If you and your friends wanna get out of the house for a little then I recommend ice skating. Especially, if you live close to a city that offers ice skating downtown. Seeing the decorated holiday lights hung up in the city is always cool to see. Seeing them while ice skating with your best friends is even more fun!!

Thanks for reading! Until next time, Claire!!!!!

Becoming A Tourist in Your Own City

I know it was already a week ago but… I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! With Thanksgiving already passed it seems like the year is blowing by. Winter/Holiday break is approaching FAST and before you know it your day will become a lot less busy. Of course, we love this time off but you may experience some boredom and start wishing that you were travelling this break. Luckily, you don’t have to travel to be a tourist. You can discover new things and visit new places in your own city. Here are some things that you can do to beat the “break boredom”.

Visit the welcome center

Nothing scream tourist like visiting your very own welcome. You may be surprised at what fun things you may find.

Visit museums

This one may be a little more obvious but I seriously recommend it. Chances are your city has many of them. So you don’t have to limit yourself to one, visit a few!

Take a tour

Really any tour will do, from a ghost tour to a historical tour learning more about your city helps you learn things you’ve never known before about the place you’re living in.

Go on Yelp.com

Yelp.com is the place for finding the best anything for the city you are in. Shops, bars, restaurants, you name it!

Get a hotel room

Sometimes a night out of your home is all you need.

Take a Walk Downtown

How many times have you just taken a walk Downtown and just enjoyed the scenery? And who knows, you may walk across something that interests you and just like that, your next tourist activity is a few steps ahead.
